Offering a wide range of products and services, including an agronomy division specializing in fertilizer and seed/crop protection products, custom application and precision agriculture services, a feed division that provides nutrition consulting while also providing livestock supplies, grain marketing and storage, and an energy division offering LP gas for home and commercial clients as well as refined fuels (gasoline, diesel and lubricants). Allied also has a retail division that includes NAPA Auto Parts stores in Adams and Mauston, Fast Fuels in Wisconsin Dells, tire shops in Mauston, West Salem and Arcadia, a feed store in Tomah, and Ace Hardware in West Salem. As a subscriber to Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative's reliable high-speed Internet, Allied Co-op receives a much higher level of customer service than ever before. Through Marquette-Adams' partnership with Wisconsin Independent Network (WIN), Allied uses a dedicated network connection to multiple locations throughout the state, and is currently also utilizing the fiber networks of several other WIN partners. Marquette-Adams is one of 31 local telecoms that share ownership of WIN, which aided in facilitating these network connections. Allied now has access to its network at any satellite location. Reliable broadband connections through Marquette-Adams are critical to the work done at the Co-op in not only the offices, but the fields as well. The Co-op's precision agriculture program utilizes fly-over plane imagery to help customers make critical crop decisions. The use of satellite imagery is possible as well, but the lead time is often too slow to make timely decisions. Planes fly below the cloud cover collecting images, which are uploaded to Internet-based cloud storage and are also made available in its online precision agriculture program. The way Allied Cooperative actually came to exist is an interesting account that dates all the way back to World War I. In 1919, in a little town called Kilbourn, Wisconsin (now named Wisconsin Dells) the Kilbourn Co-op Exchange was formed. In 1947 a small group of farmers in Adams, Wisconsin began laying the foundation for a cooperative that they believed would serve their community for years to come, named Farmer's Union Co-op. In 2001, Farmer's Union Co-op in Adams and Mauston Farmer's Co-op (which had previously merged with Kilbourn Co-op Exchange) joined forces in order to better service central Wisconsin with its wide array of products and services. The merged cooperative was renamed Wisconsin River Co-op. Then in 2012, Wisconsin River Co-op and Farmer's Co-op Supply and Shipping Association of West Salem began merger talks. Both co-ops recognized that by joining together they could improve the utilization of their facilities and equipment, add efficiency to their sales and delivery routes, and better position themselves for growth. In April, 2013 the merger was complete, resulting in the current Allied Cooperative. Although the co-op has undergone much change over the years, its commitment to its members and the co-op tradition has stood the test of time. It's a tradition the team at Allied is proud of and one they plan to continue well into the next generation with the help of support, service, and the latest in technology from Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative.
